Director: David LaBerge
David LaBerge’s love of classical music began with studying piano at age 7 and singing with his church choir at age 11. At the College of Wooster he expanded his musical studies and after college he began to direct church choirs. Later, while an Assoc. Prof. at the U. of MN, he organized the Minnesota Bach Society, which included both a 200-voice chorus and a 40-voice chorale. His style of conducting and shaping a phrase were strongly influenced by studying with Robert Shaw and Helmuth Rilling. During his 21 years as Director he conducted over 100 concerts featuring classical composers as well as premiering modern works by Paul Fetler and Stephen Paulus." . He also prepared the chorus for many concerts with the Minnesota Orchestra and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
